The foundation for the species used and the format of the index is from David J. White's Assessment of Representative and Special Life Science Resource Features of the Temagami Planning Area, and Reconnaissance Life Science Inventory of Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park Sudbury/Temiskaming Districts of Ontario, both prepared for the Ministry of Natural Resources of Ontario. The species were taken mainly from his life science checksheets. The descriptions and diagrams used to depict the plants were taken mainly from Britton and Brown's An Illistrated Flora of the Northern United States and Canada (BB in the list the index) and alternately from Forest Plants of Northeastern Ontario (FPNO) - Legasy, LaBelle-Beadman, and Chambers, and A Field Guide to the Ferns and Their Related Families (FGF) by Boughton Cobb. .
